About Us
A note from the founder
Five years ago I left finance, shouldered a backpack, and traveled for a year—from European hostels to Japanese pod hotels to Balinese guesthouses. I stayed in over a hundred places, each with its own character.
That year I learned the stays I remember were rarely about star ratings or flashy amenities. They were the moments I felt understood: the right welcome tea, a hand-drawn local map, a genuine conversation.
Back in Taiwan, I opened Joie de Inn in my hometown, Taichung. It is more than a hotel—it is what I want to say to every traveler: “Welcome home. Rest here.”

Design philosophy
We worked with architect Lin Chih-ming and interior designer Chang Ya-han for eighteen months to shape this space. Every corner holds a story; every detail was reconsidered again and again.
The warmth of craft
Artisans applied microcement by hand—each brushstroke is unique. We skipped cold, factory sameness and kept the beauty of imperfection.
Light as poetry
South-facing windows draw in daylight; shadows move through the day. Gentle morning, bright noon, golden dusk—the space breathes with time.
Relentless detail
German fittings, Taiwan cypress hangers, a bespoke mattress—we do not compromise where you cannot see, because quality is the least we owe our guests.
Our service philosophy
“Good service is not constant hovering
but appearing, quietly, exactly when you need us.”
24-hour concierge
Late arrivals or early departures—our team is on call. Beyond your stay, we love sharing Taichung’s hidden spots and favorite bites.
Tailored stays
Birthday? Proposal? Anniversary? Tell us what matters; we will help you mark it. Every guest deserves to feel seen.
